At-cost supplies

Supply policy.

We sell materials at cost so members can grow affordably. That only works if everyone uses it as intended. Here's the deal — plainly.

The at-cost promise, and the catch.

Spore Symposium buys grain, substrate, agar, jars, and filters in bulk and passes them on at cost — no markup. In exchange, we ask one thing: use it, don't flip it. These are membership terms, not suggestions.

01

Personal & member use only

At-cost supplies are for your own cultivation, research, and learning inside the Spore Symposium community. They aren't stock for a side business. If you bought it here at cost, it stays with you — used, not resold.

02

No commercial resale

You may not resell, trade, or redistribute at-cost materials for profit, whether online, at markets, or privately. Selling grow kits or cultures you made with our shared equipment is fine — that's your work. Reselling the raw substrate, grain, agar, or jars you bought from us at cost is not.

03

Reasonable quantity limits

At-cost pricing assumes personal-scale use. Orders are capped at reasonable per-member, per-month quantities. Need more for a legitimate large project? Talk to us first — we'll work something out, at fair terms, rather than at the personal-use cost rate.

04

Large orders get verified

Unusually large or repeated orders may be paused for a quick conversation about intended use. This isn't suspicion by default — it's how we keep at-cost pricing sustainable for everyone. Straightforward answers keep things moving.

If the line gets crossed

What happens next.

We'd always rather have a conversation than a confrontation. But at-cost pricing is a shared resource, and protecting it sometimes means saying no.

  • A first issue usually means a friendly heads-up and a reminder of this policy.
  • Continued or clear resale means at-cost supply access is suspended — you keep community and (if applicable) lab access, but buy at standard rates.
  • Serious or repeated abuse can end membership entirely, at our discretion.
  • We may set or adjust per-item limits at any time to keep the program fair.

This policy is part of the membership agreement. It isn't legal advice, and "reasonable" limits are set at Spore Symposium's discretion in good faith. Questions about a specific order? Just ask us before you buy.

Making kits or cultures to sell? That's encouraged.

The line is simple: sell what you make, not the raw supplies you bought at cost. Building a small growing business is exactly the kind of thing this lab is here for.
